[July 2020]
At the time of the public consultation for the development on the site of Strides Farm and the flower nursery (which is all long-since built), residents were led to believe that the developer had promised to fund a footbridge at the Warblington level crossing, as a compensatory benefit to residents, and to reduce the danger for people waiting to cross.
So where is it?
There is an increasing need for it, especially at peak periods and when Warblington School starts and finishes.
It seems that a sum of money from developers’ contributions was indeed put aside for the purpose… but the Conservative-run Council decided to spend it on something else.
Following enquiries, we have learnt that Network Rail have now been approached for additional funds to enable the project to go ahead.
We wait in hope!
