🗳 Photo ID now required at polling stations

[March 2023]

The government have changed the law so that voters will now have to present an identification document (ID) that has their picture on to vote at a polling station.  Postal voting is unaffected.

The following will be accepted, even if they are out-of-date:

  • Photocard driving licence
  • Passport
  • Bus pass
  • Blue badge
  • ‘PASS’ proof-of-age card
  • Ministry of Defence ID card

(See gov.uk/how-to-vote/photo-id-youll-need)

If you don’t have any of those, you are entitled to be issued with a special certificate which will do the trick instead.
There is no charge, but you must apply before Tuesday 25 April 2023.

You can apply for one of these new “Voter Authority Certificates” on-line here…

…or you can complete a paper application form and submit it to Electoral Services, Havant, PO9 2AX.

In either case you will need to provide a passport-type photograph.

Forms in other formats (such as large print) are available for download here.

If you don’t have access to a printer, send us an e-mail at stfaiths@havantlabour.uk with your name and address and we will print one out and deliver it to you.
